Vending Machine Challenge

We wish to address two aspects of vending machine design. The first is the paying system and thus the role of the machine in the market. The second is the interface and interaction with the customer. We are starting with four interface projects: 1) make the vending machine glass a semitransparent display that is touch enabled; 2) use a "magic wand" to point and click to purchase items and view information about them; 3) interface the vending machine with a PDA; and 4) introduce speech recognition to the machine.
