Broadercasting replaces the expensive, bespoke mobile production truck with a virtual reality console, essentially putting the contents of the truck on your head. This allows popup, on-site production of creatively edited civic and live events. The camera operators can use their phones. The producer’s visual field includes all cameras, a library of relevant background information and graphics, and realtime messages. We have demonstrated this with sports footage in the past. Most recently, we created a parallel version of an MLTalks event using the live feeds from a full production crew that webcast the event. There is a descriptive thesis available here, and a manual is available here.
