Alexandra Rieger: Innovating Omnisensory Medicine at MIT & Harvard

Meet Alexandra, 2023 Design Fellow at the MIT Morningside Academy for Design (MAD), a doctoral candidate at the MIT Media Lab 's Opera of the Future Group and a Harvard graduate student. As a cognitive neuroscientist, interdisciplinary designer, and mechatronic engineer, Rieger is pioneering the field of Omnisensory Medicine, focusing on earlier diagnostics, data-based interventions, and targeted treatments for patients. 

In this short interview, Rieger discusses her research and projects. A youth musician performing for hospitals and nursing homes, she is dedicated to leveraging her multidisciplinary background to design medical interventions addressing pressing healthcare challenges. 

 In recent years, she has collaborated with the Aging Brain Initiative at MIT, and developed MediMusical designs as part of a stroke patient study at Harvard's Mass General. Rieger's multidisciplinary background shines through in her dedication to healthcare access on a global scale.
