Lebanese artist Yazan Halwani created a mural for the Media Lab's Defiance event. He called this work "Between a Rock and a Hard Place."
Speakers from varied fields—activism, politics, law, health, religion, media, tech, and more—all focused on responsible disobedience.
On July 21, 2017, the MIT Media Lab hosted Defiance, an event exploring the impact of dissent.
The daylong event includes sessions on diverse issues—from nonviolent activism to rebel science; from judicial reform to social justice.
