Benoit Desbiolles, a postdoctoral associate at the Nano-Cybernetic Biotrek (NCB) research group at the MIT Media Lab, has won a 2023 MIT Excellence Award in the category of outstanding contributor.  The MIT Excellence Awards acknowledge the extraordinary efforts made by members of MIT community toward fulfilling the goals, values, and mission of the Institute. Specifically, Benoit’s award recognizes his selfless contributions to the research community at MIT.

Benoit joined the NCB lab as a postdoctoral fellow in September 2020. Since then, he has selflessly helped other students and postdocs in every way possible, including sharing knowledge, providing training, and helping with projects. He has also taken initiatives to ensure a safe lab environment and good work habits. He has a very kind and compassionate nature and has inspired and encouraged everyone in the lab to create a very positive and enthusiastic lab environment.

“All these rare attributes that Benoit possesses go above and beyond him also being a stellar researcher,” commented Prof. Deblina Sarkar, assistant professor at the MIT Media Lab and Benoit’s postdoctoral advisor.

Benoit was also awarded with NCB Lab Hero Award in 2022, as he has gone far beyond his duties as a postdoctoral researcher, in his services to the scientific community.
