Sara V. Fernandez, an undergraduate researcher (UROP) in the Conformable Decoders group who is working toward her bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering, was a recipient of the 2022 Unsung Hero Award from the Office of Graduate Education. One of the MIT Multicultural Awards, the Unsung Hero Award is presented to an undergraduate and graduate student from the MIT community who have demonstrated that leadership isn’t always defined by title and position.
The Unsung Hero Award recognizes students who are an asset to the community, who have expressed their commitment and passion for the community regardless of leadership position, and who have shown their willingness to support efforts toward diversity and inclusion.
