Spinoff Xander raises $1.4 million in pre-seed funding

Media Lab spinoff Xander, founded by alum Alex Westner, has raised $1.4 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Ray Stata, the co-founder, former CEO and chairman, and a current board member of Analog Devices. Mark Ethier, the co-founder and former CEO of iZotope, 77, and additional angel investors also contributed to the round.   

Xander plans to launch its first product, XanderGlasses, designed for people with hearing loss or auditory processing challenges. The system provides live captioning as an alternative or adjunct to hearing aids.
