Musical interaction occurs through one of three modalities: performing, listening, or composing. This project investigates new ways in which computers and associated technologies may be applied to music education through each of these modalities. This project will apply current pedagogic theory and practice to the music toys developed for the "Toy Symphony" project. We will perform a major assessment of these instruments from an educational perspective, including design and implementation of workshop activities with children using the instruments, and evaluation of the learning outcomes in a variety of educational and cultural settings.
