We are proud to share that Canan Dagdeviren, Principal Investigator of the Conformable Decoders group at the MIT Media Lab, has been invited to speak at the United Nations during the high-level event “Women Breaking Barriers.”
Hosted by the United Nations Spotlight Initiative together with Amanda Nguyen’s organization Rise, and the Permanent Missions of Viet Nam and Sweden to the United Nations, the event brings together global leaders, innovators, policymakers, and advocates working to advance efforts to end violence against women and girls worldwide.
Dr. Dagdeviren will join an international lineup of distinguished speakers—including UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, astronaut-activist Amanda Nguyen, Paralympian Tatyana McFadden, and leaders across science, media, and technology—to highlight how women are overcoming systemic barriers and shaping more equitable futures across disciplines.
Her participation reflects the growing global recognition of wearable medical technologies as tools for expanding access to healthcare and empowering women through early detection, continuous monitoring, and patient-centered innovation.
