- City Science
Xabier is a Visiting Student at the MIT Media Lab City Science group. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Industrial Engineering, including a six-month research and study period at the University of Sydney.
His work at City Science focuses on micromobility, and in particular on how bike sharing systems can be designed and evaluated to serve cities more equitably and efficiently. He is interested in the gap between how these systems are planned and how people actually use them, and in the data and modeling tools needed to close it.
Alongside his main research, Xabier contributes to several group efforts: a methodology to measure urban accessibility on a global scale, the development of a public transit editor for rapid scenario testing, the creation of open QGIS tools for urban analysis, and the calibration of urban system dynamics models.
