I am currently developing a creative design tool for educators. I'm also thinking about how cultures for creative learning spread across education systems, within organizations, and across communities. This has included work supporting the South African government introduce a Digital Skills for All curriculum and most recently, the Suggestion Box, a project designed to support schools in experimenting thoughtfully and inclusively.

My work prior to MIT has taken me from higher education reform in Egypt during the Arab Spring to helping launch the African Leadership University (ALU)—a pan African network of universities and accelerators in Mauritius, Rwanda, Kenya, and South Africa. At ALU, I led development of our degree programs, balancing our ambitions to introduce project-based learning within accreditation constraints.

Outside of my research, I mentor startups through MIT's Sandbox Innovation Fund,  collaborate with the South End Tech Center (a community maker space founded by Mel King, managed by youth of color, and the first Fab Lab outside of MIT), and can be found tinkering with new chai recipes.
