I have always said the Media Lab is a family — and you never outgrow it. A few weeks ago in Toronto, that family reunited for dinner, and our shared spirit shone through. Gathered around the table were Mr. Philipp A. Frei ’98 (II), SM ’00 (MAS); Dr. Steve Mann PhD ’97 (MAS); Dr. Alexandra Mazalek SM ’01 (MAS), PhD ’05 (MAS); Zacharia Jama AR 2019; Mr. Richard W. Lachman ’95 (VI-2), SM ’97 (MAS); David Bouchard SM ’07 (MAS); and Mr. Michael Wong SM ’25 (MAS). They are now a node in the Media Lab alumni network. Let’s form more nodes like this.

Much of the dinner conversation centered on ways to engage the Lab in support of alumni needs and interests. Some welcomed the chance to mentor current graduate students. Others suggested ways we might better support them — by creating special interest groups across geographies, inviting them to Crit Day, or making our web of events and seminars more accessible and participatory.
