Zach Lieberman leads the Future Sketches group at the MIT Media Lab, exploring the intersection of art, design, and technology.
The group investigates how arts and creativity meet computation through research in several areas: the body and gesture, drawing as a human-computer interface, craft and fabrication, and the interplay of light and computation. At its core, their work is about creative coding—building expressive, malleable tools for human expression. For Zach, success means others using their tools and ideas.
The Media Lab, he says, is “full of whimsy, play, and wonder”—a perfect place for making “extremely weird things.”
