SoCity is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that aims to establish an ecosystem that promotes prosocial, pro-sustainability behaviors in cities with decentralized incentive policies. The core of the SoCity ecosystem is to quantify each individual or organization’s social or sustainable value contribution according to their behavior, monetize and recognize the contribution, and then reward the users to further incentivize the positive feedback loop.
As a platform, SoCity DAO will empower people all around the world to start their own SoCity Initiatives by providing resources such as smart contract toolkits for both economics and governance, privacy-preserving data, and data analytics, fund, advisory, and community network. With emerging technologies including blockchain, smart contracts, data analytics, etc., the process will be secure, efficient, and equitable.
SoCity DAO is initiated by students and researchers at the City Science group, MIT Media Lab, and the City Science Lab @Shanghai, who have been focused on how to use technology to improve urban design and decision-making process, and how to make the city life better since 2020.
