 Markus ElKatsha is an architect and urban planner interested in the intersection between advancements in urban analysis tools and policy strategies for rapidly urbanizing cities. Markus joined the City Science group as member of the CityScope research team developing a data-enabled decision-making platform. In addition to a Bachelor of Architecture, he has two Master Degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in City Planning and in Architectural History, Theory and Criticism. Prior to joining the Media Lab, Markus worked for eight-years at the Boston based architecture firm Machado and Silvetti Associates, before taking the position as the Design and Engineering Director of a public/private development corporation responsible for two city-centers east and west of Cairo, Egypt. His current work and research is focused on new approaches to urban policy making and collaboration strategies for developing and emerging countries.
